Manhattan Island Marathon Swim

On your mark… get set… SWIM!!  Today the waters surrounding Manhattan will be filled with competitors racing in the annual Manhattan Island Marathon Swim.  Incredibly, people have been taking on this 28.5 mile swim challenge since the 1920s.  Today, the race is hosted and organized through NYC SWIM.

The race begins at 7:25 AM.  Currently enrollment is closed and there are 105 solo and relay swimmers scheduled to race.  They will be competing for a place on the Gallagher Cup (a piece crafted by Tiffany’s), cash prizes, and not to mention glory!

The race begins and ends at the South Cove of Battery Park City.  So, if you don’t have plans for Saturday, head on down and support your fellow New Yorkers!
