Thanksgiving is a time to be with family and enjoy a nice cooked meal. But, let’s not forget about the best shopping day of the year! Black Friday has been known as the major kick off to Christmas shopping since the start of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in 1924. The term was first coined in the 1960’s, to show that stores would move from the “red,” a loss in profit, into the “black,” a gain, after offering slashed prices to lure numbers of eager shoppers. All items from apparel to toys are specially marked with discount deals. Most shoppers start camping out in front of stores as early as 3 am even though the stores do not open their doors until 5am! If you plan on braving the fierce crowds this Friday, we suggest you start preparing now, if you haven’t already. Be sure to check out the deals that stores are offering and what time they open, some as early as midnight. You don’t want to leave empty handed!
