“If we don’t stop drinking this, how will we be free?” 12-year-old Brichko asked.
There are six kids in Brichko’s family, but only two of them are lucky enough to get to attend school. Though her entire family understands the importance of education, the other kids already have adult responsibilities, like collecting water.
For women and children in rural Ethiopia, collecting water can be a full time job. Especially in the dry season. Once December arrives, Brichko’s family is forced to walk to a river bed that is far from the community. And because there is so little water and so many people, they often have to wait in line for hours.
Today is #GivingTuesday, a global day dedicated to giving. We’d love for you to consider making a donation to our nonprofit partner, charity: water, and give the gift of clean and safe drinking water to more kids like Brichko. Donate here.
